16 X 16 Greenhouse Process And Tips From The Build

Time to level and plumb the post. This is the time to correct any out of plumb, level and square.      That's what the blocking between the doubled 9 post through block are for.

Time to tie in the roof.

We used field stones to cover the perimeter reveal.
We used 3 X 5 plastic floor grate and bricks for floor

I framed the window openings to sash size (3/16 reveal) and pre-hung before painting.
Picked up the sashes at Habitat.

Note reference to the plans:  4 more rafters to add between shown rafters each side before adding the UV plastic or clear corrugated roof panels. Use a string front to back to level the rafters.
Cover the ridge and hip wall tops with stapled on unfaced Poly insulation to prevent UV plastic chaffing!
The front screen door is custom to the opening. allow for reveal!
Constructed on a flat surface with 1x1x8 treated. Be sure to clamp, glue and screw the connections.
Keep it square!
Installed the plastic using 3/16" staples every 6" and sharp point roofing screws every 12".
Installed the roof first leaving an unstapled edge hanging over the hip wall and ends. While wrapping the walls let the extra go up under the roof plastic to allow overlap for a moisture barrier. (Just like shingles) Staple and trim excess plastic.

Can you see the counterweight?
1/4" x 1" makes a good door stop when mounted on the interior side of the door jamb.

See footer: The blocking at the block was shimmed during plumb, level and square.

Table from refurbished lumber

Time to start
9 cider block plumb, planar level and square.
8' on center of block
I used the height of the block to level the block tops.
Some buried to the top and the others almost out of the ground adjusting for ground slope.
This can be tedious and testing but it's all worth the result.

Don't forget to concrete each block!
